Cognitive Aging Conference

New Updates & Announcements

COVID-19 Updates

We are currently looking at the possibility of holding the conference in fall.  The hotel has offered us a date in late September, although that may be too ambitious.  We are also considering what could be done to hold the conference remotely/electronically rather than convene in person in Atlanta.  Sadly, if the pandemic continues in full force into the fall we may simply cancel the conference.  Before making any decisions we will canvass you about your opinions and preferences.  It seems prudent to wait until mid-May to track the pandemic further before making any suggestions about next steps.

Anyone wishing to receive a reimbursement for the conference registration fee can contact us to request one (cogagingconference@gmail.com). Otherwise we will continue to hold your fees hoping that they will be applied to the conference in the near future.  If we cancel the conference we will automatically refund all registration fees w/o a need for you to request a refund.

(Updated 4/03/20)

We deeply regret to inform you that the Cognitive Aging Conference, originally scheduled for April 16-19, 2020, will be postponed. Events have progressed rapidly over the last few days, and it is now clear that burgeoning travel restrictions due to the expanding COVID-19 pandemic are going to make it impossible for many people to attend the conference as originally scheduled. We will be working with the JW Marriott hotel regarding its availability for summer and fall 2020 and will canvass scheduled participants about suitable alternative dates in a few weeks, after the extent of the pandemic and its consequences are better understood. Our aim will be to find alternative dates that are acceptable for as many scheduled participants as possible. We may also consider re-opening the call for papers, depending on the length of the delay.

We considered hosting a virtual conference, as is being done by some other organizations but we prefer to maintain the face-to-face dialog about the science, and networking opportunities for junior scientists that the in-person format enables. Hence, the decision to postpone.

If you paid the registration fee for the conference, please know that it will be honored for the rescheduled conference dates. If you know that you will not be able to attend the rescheduled conference (once we establish new conference dates), we will refund your conference registration.

You will not be penalized for canceling your hotel reservation at the JW Marriott Atlanta Buckhead. See the following link for JW Marriott's cancellation policy due to COVID-19: https://marriott-re-2019ncovc.com/
